Viktor's Mossifier is a fully procedural geometry nodes setup in combination with a moss shader function. When creating it, it was important for me to have something that not only works from a distance, but also from up close, that is why the shader below the spawned meshes is using 4k textures and the meshes itself actually look like tiny moss strands. It is fully customizeable so can change colors, the way it grows and the shape of the meshes, all inside one modifier - Mossifier.

Simply append it to your scene, assign the geometry node to your object and plug in a shader function into your objects shader.

Changelog

  • 20231101 v.1.1 - Fix "Realize Instances"
    "Realize Instances" was not working as it should be (attributes and normals did not convert properly when realizing instances). To make "Realize Instances" work, you need to duplicate your object. One with the option checked on & the other with the option checked off. When applying Mossifier on both these objects, you will get your original object (with the correct shader) and a second object with just the moss. This is unfortunately the only way I have found to preserve the correct settings, when applying Mossifer.
